Yanwei Sun

Welcome! I am a fourth-year (2022 Fall) PhD student of Analytics & Operations at Imperial Business School, where I am very fortunate to be advised by Prof. Jiahua Wu and Prof. Chiwei Yan. I was a visiting scholar at University of California, Berkeley during the 2024–2025 academic year, hosted by Prof. Chiwei Yan.

Broadly, I study marketplace design in environments with self-interested agents and informational frictions. My research aims to improve market efficiency by understanding and mitigating the inefficiencies that arise from decentralized decision-making, asymmetric information, and self-interested behavior. My work spans three main areas:
(1) marketplace design for AI-enabled services and prediction-driven mechanism design;
(2) information design and pricing in platform operations, especially their interplay;
(3) service operations, with a focus on spatial queueing and optimal scheduling in dynamic service systems.
